This photograph was taken by Tina Hager on June 17, 2003, during a reception hosted by President George W. Bush in the East Room honoring the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Winter Championship teams. Here, President Bush is presented with a jersey by guard Diana Taurasi of the University of Connecticut women's basketball team. Taurasi was a member of the team for three of its NCAA championship wins from 2002-2004.

In this photograph, taken by Tina Hager, White House Chief Plumber Gary E. Williams works on a model of Spiegel Grove, the residence of former President Rutherford B. Hayes. For First Lady Laura Welch Bush's "Home for the Holidays" theme, White House residence staff constructed 18 replicas of former president's homes that were displayed throughout the White House and at the White House Visitor's Center. Several of the models are displayed on the shelves in the background of this photograph. Williams served as a plumber at the White House from November 1976 until his retirement in August 2008. Williams applied his artistic talent to many Christmas displays at the White House, including the prince's castle for First Lady Barbara Bush's 1990 "Nutcracker" theme, and Noah's ark in 1991.

In this photograph, taken by Tina Hager in 2001, assistant chief florist Wendy Elsasser carefully examines the cranberry tree in the Red Room. White House florists constructed the tree over the course of four days. Traditionally displayed in the Red Room, cranberry trees have been a feature of the Christmas decorations in the White House since 1975, during the Gerald R. Ford administration.

In this photograph, taken by Tina Hager, White House Chief Floral Designer Nancy Clarke adds the final details to the dress of a caroler doll in the State Dining Room. The dolls were created by Clarke and the White House florists to complement First Lady Laura Welch Bush's "Home for the Holidays" theme in 2001. Clarke served as the White House Chief Floral Designer from 1985 until 2009. She also brought her sense of artistry to many White House holiday decorations, particularly with doll displays. Under her management, the dolls created by the White House florists were dressed as storybook characters and used to decorate the Blue Room Christmas tree in 1989. She also designed the patterns for First Lady Barbara Bush's needlework theme in 1991.

In this photograph, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Welch Bush participate in a wreath-laying ceremony near the crash site for United Airlines Flight 93 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, on the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. Flight 93 was one of four airplanes hijacked by al-Qaida terrorists on September 11, 2001. Believed to be targeting the United States Capitol Building, the flight crashed into a field after passengers and crew attempted to regain control of the aircraft. Preliminary work for the Flight 93 National Memorial was completed on September 10, 2010, and the permanent memorial opened to the public on September 10, 2015. In 2002, President Bush designated September 11th as Patriot Day, a time that has been recognized through presidential proclamations as a national day of remembrance, prayer, and service. Presidents and first ladies typically commemorate the day through moment of silence observations on the White House South Lawn, and by attending remembrance ceremonies at sites affected by the terrorist attacks.

This black-and-white photograph shows White House Assistant Curator Lydia Barker Tederick at her desk in the White House Curator's Office. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Tederick began working at the White House Office of the Curator in 1979. In her official capacity, she has lectured and published articles on the White House collection and serves on the White House History Quarterly Editorial Advisory for the White House Historical Association. She became the eighth individual to hold the title of White House Curator upon the retirement of William G. Allman in 2017. This photograph was taken by Tina Hager on July 23, 2004 as part of a White House Photo Office project on White House Residence staff.

In this photograph, taken by Tina Hager on November 24, 2004, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush host a Thanksgiving-style luncheon at the Prairie Chapel Ranch, their home near Crawford, Texas, during a visit by King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía of Spain. For the luncheon, chef Matthew Wendel prepared seasonal dishes including free-range turkey, Prairie Chapel bass, mashed sweet potatoes with maple syrup and chipotle, pan-roasted vegetables with walnuts and apples, corn bread stuffing, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie. Also present at the luncheon were the president's twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, as well as his parents, former President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush.
